Units add visual character
A new unit development approved for the Cairns CBD will feature architectural elements to give it a unique appearance says Cairns City Council
The 10-storey residential, retail and commercial block will be built in place of existing warehouses on land fronting Grafton and Lake streets, between Florence and Aplin streets.
The complex will feature more than 40 units for permanent and holiday accommodation and two four-bedroom penthouses. Shopping and commercial business space will front Lake St.
“The proposed development will result in a contemporary addition to the streetscape, which currently lacks any visual interest or character,” the council’s report said.
Almost half of the inner-city site will be landscaped. A pool, barbecue and gym also will be built.
