Emma's New Journey
Emma-Louise plays on Thursday nights at the singer-songwriter night at Mondo Café and Bar at the Hilton Cairns.
Talented local musician Emma-louise is starting to make an impression down south.
Multi award-winning singer-songwriter Emma-Louise returned to Cairns last week after three weeks down south where she performed a number of shows, including a showcase at Brisbane’s renowned Troubadour Club.
The talented young school girl had a huge year in 2007, recording and releasing her debut EP Surrender in May and winning two awards in the 2007 Q-Music song contest with her song Kim’s Song in August.
The song was also one of only four from 1500 entries that was nominated for 2007 song of the year.
Still with year 12 to complete at school, in 2008 EmmaLouise will continue to write material for her full-length album, perform around Cairns with The Doyles and also perform with an as yet unnamed all-girl band.
The side project will include three other talented young local teenage musicians Emma Andrews on keyboards, Jamie Davidson on drums and Heather Riordon on bass.
"Yeah, I have to refer to my diary to remember that the past 12 months have really been huge," Emma-Louise says.
"One minute I am singing and songwriting in the safety of my home and then I meet Terry Doyle and Rom Stover and it’s been a roller coaster ride ever since."
"But I also realise that this is just the beginning and it takes heaps of hard work and a lot of luck to get your songs out there and to make a go of it in the music industry."
You can catch Emma-Louise every Thursday night when she plays host to the very popular singer-songwriter nights at Mondo Café and Bar, as well as other venues around town when she does not have homework commitments.
