POLICE found 43 ecstasy tablets concealed in plastic bags inside an Innisfail man's body when they subjected him to a cavity search at Mt Garnet.

Cairns Supreme Court heard yesterday that Lindsay Luke Brown had been stopped for a random breath test after leaving the Mt Garnet Rodeo on May 4 last year.

Police became suspicious when they noticed a passenger who appeared to be drug-affected.

Officers found 47.3g of cannabis in three clip-seal bags during a search of the vehicle.

It was not until they conducted a full body search of Brown at Mt Garnet Police Station that they found three more resealable bags containing the 43 tablets and one bag containing less than 1g of cannabis.

The total weight of the ecstasy, or MDMA, was 2.257g.

Yesterday, 21-year-old Brown pleaded guilty to producing cannabis, two counts of possessing a dangerous drug and one count of supplying a dangerous drug.

Prosecutor Bob English said when Brown was interviewed by police, he admitted he had planted 10 cannabis seeds in a sugar cane paddock behind his parent's home at Innisfail.

He had harvested the plants and told police he sold one bag of cannabis for $200.

He had hoped to make $800 from the cannabis but said the ecstasy was for his personal use.

Defence barrister Sandra Pearson said the apprentice electrician had been on holidays and was spending a lot of time in Cairns nightclubs.

Ms Pearson said he obtained the ecstasy tablets from an unknown person outside Soho nightclub.

Justice Stanley Jones sentenced Brown to a year on probation.

He noted that several of the charges were a result of Brown’s admissions to police.

He warned Brown "it is not anything like walking free".
