Knife bandits jailed
TWO men who terrorised four retail staff at knife-point in a string of armed hold-ups across Cairns have been jailed.
Nathan John Penhaligon, 26, was armed with a knife during three robberies on a Civic Video store, a Dominos Pizza outlet and a Caltex Service Station.
On the fourth occasion, he drove the getaway car after a third man held up the Network Video store on Mulgrave Rd at
knife-point.
Yesterday, Penhaligon, of Edmonton, was jailed for four years after pleading guilty in Cairns District Court to three armed robberies and one robbery.
He was ordered to serve at least 14 months and will be eligible for parole on August 25 after already serving seven months.
Co-offender Adam Jock Watkins-Clark, 23, of Bungalow, pleaded guilty to one robbery in company, two counts of robbery and one unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He was jailed for three years for being present at the Network Video robbery and twice being a passenger in the getaway car. He will serve another two months before he is released.
Judge Sarah Bradley said the four victims had been terrorised.
