US attracts landscape photographer
Moving on: Photographer Peter Lik is moving to Las Vegas.
The bright lights of Las Vegas have won over acclaimed Australian landscape photographer Peter Lik.
Mr Lik, who has galleries scattered throughout Australia and the US, is about to move his company's head office and framing studio from Cairns to the US casino capital.
A former Palm Cove resident, Mr Lik travels around the world photographing exotic locations and made the Far North his home for more than 20 years.
Peter Lik Fine Art Photography chief executive officer Shane Stephens said the move was a result of the company's continuous growth and expansion in the US.
"Unfortunately, like many other Australian companies that export into global markets, it is just not sustainable to keep part of the production process in Australia when the majority of the business is generated and produced in offshore markets," Mr Stephens said.
"In this ever-changing marketplace our company needs to be streamlined to be able to compete on the world stage."
He said the Peter Lik galleries in Cairns, Port Douglas, Noosa and Sydney would remain as well as thepublishing sector.
