Golf ball snake goes home
Yesterday the world famous golf ball-swallowing python, Augusta, was set free after having four golf balls removed from his intestine.
Augusta swallowed the golf balls after mistaking them for chook eggs on January 3. He was released at Nobby’s Creek, near Murwillumbah.
The golf balls were removed from the snake last month in a world first surgery after Augusta, a carpet python, swallowed the balls instead of the chicken eggs in a Gold Coast henhouse.
The balls were sold on eBay for $1401 after more than 500 bidders from around the world watched the auction, which raised money for the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary’s new community wildlife hospital on the Gold Coast.
