A bare minimum
IN the business world, asset stripping is a common practice.
In Cairns, if you have the assets to strip, you are in big demand.
Box Office Adult Promotions managing director Sacha Assan says there is a shortage of women prepared to be paid to get their gear off for of jobs around the city.
At least 15 women are needed to fill the demanding work on offer including topless and nude waitressing, striptease shows, private/corporate functions and bucks nights throughout the year.
"A lot of it is also pub shifts because there's a lot of them in town," Ms Assan said.
"There's about 50 hours a week just in pub shifts and there's about 15 pubs in town and they all have their functions on at the one time.
"It's a bit quiet at this time of year but later in the year it goes nuts.
"We have a lot of work but we just can't fill it."
She said for many girls it was their second job so the more women who applied the easier the shifts became.
She said women who applied needed no experience except to be friendly and confident.
"A lot of girls phone up and say, 'I'd like to do topless but I have no top' but that is fine, you don't need a top," she said.
Ms Assan said there was a huge push to improve the image of the stripping industry.
"It's perceived by the public as being not credible but we want to make sure it`s classy and professional because the girls are our image."
Pole dancer Khiri Naylor, 21, said she didn't think twice about signing up for the job.
"I love customer service," she said. "I enjoy doing things face-to-face."
Fellow stripper Lizzy Crotty said it would be her first time performing.
"I wanted a different job with a bit of a challenge," Ms Crotty said.
A VIP launch will be held on March 7 where 250 prominent business people were expected to attend, she said.
Interested women should phone the agency on 0449 864 599.
