Statement: I moved to Cairns in 1982 and have extensive experience in senior management, planning and delivering services.

Affiliation: Cairns 1st

I am passionate about the lifestyle and character of the tropics and agree with people that:
* The rapid pace of development is destroying the communities we know and love;
* There is a lack of planning for vital services and the future;
* Too many decisions are made behind closed doors and with the “big end of town”; and,
* Our precious environment is being damaged.

As your Mayor, I will face the future with new energy, new ideas and will:
* Protect our lifestyle, character and diverse communities;
* Listen to your needs and aspirations;
* Insist on sustainable development – NOT growth at any cost; and,
* Plan for the future: climate change, water, transport.

In these times of rapid growth - and an amalgamation - you need strong representation; a Mayor who cares about community and people and can balance economic and environmental issues.
