CHILDREN will be able to get up close and personal with a rhino, watch three Syrian brown bears bathe in pools and see lions being fed this weekend - all for free.

The Cairns Wildlife Safari Reserve at Koah has teamed up with The Weekend Post to allow children free admission on Saturday and Sunday.

The reserve’s managing director Jenny Jattke said visitors could experience walking through the reserve and seeing how the various animals interact.

Situated on 80ha on the Kennedy Highway, the reserve is home to an abundance of wild animals.

"It’s a great family day out," Ms Jattke said.

"The zoo is a place where you would bring a family and caters for a whole range of ages."

To get free entry, valued at $14 for each child, cut out the coupon from the front page of The Weekend Post on Saturday and present it at the reserve.

Coupons must be originals from The Weekend Post and are limited to two free passes per family or group.

The zoo is open from 9am to 4.30pm.
