Dyeing with the Red Mangrove
This is an exciting and unique art project fittingly coordinated by Australian design phenomenon Linda Jackson and running from March 25 to April 17 at Tanks Arts Centre.
A collaboration of culturally diverse talents from the Mossman and Port Douglas area, the exhibition features weaving, crocheting, beading and dance costumes, as well as traditional textile, painting and craft techniques, all addressing contemporary and environmental themes.
The official opening of Dyeing with the Red Mangrove is on Friday, March 28 at 6pm – all are welcome.
"Linda Jackson is one of Australia's most significant designer-makers and highly regarded as one of our most innovative and experimental textile and clothing designers,” said Glynis Jones, Powerhouse Museum
The will be an Artist’s Talk on Thursday, April 10 at 10am.
Meet Linda Jackson for this 1 hour floor talk as she tours through the exhibition, exploring the conceptual history of the installation and the design methods employed to bring this stunning collection to fruition.

Everyone is invited to join Linda Jackson and guest artists for the following public workshops on April 5 & 6:
Come Crochet the Reef , to celebrate the Year of the Reef and raise awareness on the effects of coral bleaching on this natural wonder, crocheters and those with an interest are invited to come share skills & swap techniques as they join in the making of this installation. (11am- 3pm)
On April 12 & 13 is Weaving & Beading – Come together with guest artists from the region to exchange ideas and share techniques on these subjects from 11am to 3pm.
