Resin Dogs Tour Cairns
Resin Dogs perform at Soho Nightclub on Friday, April 11.
Resin Dogs, Australia's undisputed kings of funk-drenched hip-hop hit the road again this month and will include a gig in Cairns.
Mixing live music, turntables and guest MCs, Resin Dogs produce a mash up of sounds: modern hip-hop is drenched with breakbeat, dance hall, dub and funk.
Their debut album Grand Theft Audio was co-produced by Robert Reed of Trouble Funk and released in 2000.
After the success of Grand Theft Audio and the Live Like Dogs mini album, they were once again keen to get their music to the people and hit the studio to record a second album.
With most of the sounds now coming from the home studio, the focus is on playing more live music and working with other musicians. It’s a process that started on the second album, Hi Fidelity Dirt, and has come to the forefront on their third album MORE, released in November 2007.
Definition, the first single from the new album, was released worldwide through IODA following its feature on the FIFA 2006 World Cup EA GAMES and sold in excess of 10 million copies.
The track is a funky Latin-flavoured slab of hiphop beats. Resin Dogs collaborate with ARIA award-winning MC Hau (Koolism) and Mystro (Lowlife Records, UK) on the single.
Resin Dogs once again up the ante, bringing home the international flavours from their overseas touring.
Resin Dogs perform at Soho Nightclub on Friday, April 11. Tickets are available from Tastey on 4051 4119.
