Childhood Memories
Cairns Regional Gallery will feature Little Dwellings, an exhibition by Tablelands artist Ben Trupperbäumer.
In the past, Trupperbäumer has been inspired by his environment and made use of the rainforest.
He is renowned for his timber and bronze sculptures and has enjoyed success with a number of large-scale public art commissions.
More recently Trupperbäumer’s work led him to explore his memories.
Little Dwellings is an exhibition of new sculpture imbued with memories of a happy and privileged childhood. The exhibition testifies to Trupperbäumer’s craftsmanship – superbly designed and made.
"Using outdoor spaces was central to my creative development," Trupperbäumer said.
"I find it particularly challenging and rewarding to maintain artistic integrity, quality and uniqueness, while also experimenting with the expression of ideas and historical events."
Little Dwellings opens this Friday and runs until May 25 at Cairns Regional Gallery.
Little Dwellings will be officially opened this Friday, April 4 with an artist talk delivered by Ben at 5.30pm, followed by the launch with special guest Dr Joseph Reser.
Entry to the gallery is free for exhibition launches and all are welcome.
