THE victim of a serial peeping Tom says she is still haunted by the thought of a man taking photos of her while she showered.

The Redlynch woman, who wished to be known only as "Chris", said she was shocked and angry after discovering a prowler had been trying to perve on her through her bathroom window on April 1.

"I saw what I thought was a finger but what police thought was a camera lens," Chris told The Cairns Post.

"For some reason, I thought it was a joke.

"I got straight out and saw a hole in the window."

Earlier, Chris’s 10-year-old stepson had seen someone lurking outside the toilet of their Larsen Rd house.

When Chris inspected the house after seeing the man in the act, she discovered holes cut
in the security screens of three windows.

"They were exactly the same size," she said.

She said she was sickened to think that a stranger with a camera had been inside their fenceline for more than an hour.

Police last week revealed that the man, who remains at large, had tried to take photos of women and children in bathroooms at homes at Sweetlip Close and Nell Close before targeting the Larsen Rd area.

Cairns Det Sen-Sgt Ed Kinbacher said another Nell Close family had discovered a hole about 2cm square in the flyscreen in their bathroom after hearing a prowler had struck in their street.

"It was consistent with the other homes," he said.

Chris said the disturbing encounter had rattled her family.

"Whenever I go past a window, I keep thinking there’s going to be a face there looking at me," she said. "They (stepchildren) sleep in the same room now."

The prowler is Caucasian, has blue eyes, shaggy blond hair and is tall and skinny.

He was bare-chested on each occasion.
