THE 400kg croc unloaded in Cairns on Sunday is hidden away at an Environmental Protection Agency site in Cairns.
The 4m animal, still in the 5m mesh trap that snared him on Cape York, is tucked away in a quiet corner of the agency’s Tingira St depot, the EPA’s Cape York Dry Tropics district manager Tim White said.
"Staff at the depot have been notified that he's in there, so we don’t expect anyone to get a surprise, or to surprise the animal."

Staff are hosing down the animal, who absorbs moisture through his hide, regularly.
The croc attracted an awestruck crowd when he was taken from the ship that ferried him more than 900km south from Seisa at the tip of Cape York.
"I’m actually amazed at the level of interest," Mr White said.
"Even around Cairns it may not be out of the ordinary to have animals this size.
"It really just reflects the fact that we are living in croc country."
EPA staff may play music to the animal to make his stay more pleasant, but Mr White could not say what would be on top of the playlist.
"It’s more the choice of the people that are there at time, rather than the croc."
The animal will leave Tingira St for his new home at the Cairns Crocodile Farm today.
