Brothers is our best club, bar none
IT'S official, Brothers Leagues Club is the best club in the Far North.
The club scooped up the "best club" category for the region as part of industry's Club Achievement Awards on the Gold Coast last week.
Mossman's Memorial Bowls Club also picked up three awards including "best small gaming venue", "best club in a rural community over 1000" and a "special achievement award for the responsible service of alcohol".
But the multiple awards demonstrates the depth of commitment in the Far Northern club, Brothers' operation manager Margaret McMahon said.
"I think awards like these show the community that we really are top of our game," she said. "It’s especially great for Brothers because it’s that recognition of such a great team that has really worked hard to give their all back to the community."
The Mossman Memorial Bowls Club was recognised for its commitment to working within the community, especially its efforts to streamlining RSA policies in recent years.
The club now offers complimentary ice water, a supply of low-alcohol content beers and soft drinks, cheaply priced non-alcoholic drinks and a free taxi/pick-up phone for guests.
The club also work closely with Mossman High School to teach teens about the responsible service and drinking of alcohol.
The Club Achievement Awards are an initiative of Clubs Queensland.
Easts Leagues Club took out the prestigious "Queensland club of the year", while the Redlands Sporting Club and Alex Surf Club were inducted into the industry hall of fame.
