A three-women-problem book
All We Ever Wanted Was Everything
Janelle Brown (Hutchinson)
This is a three-women-problem book.
Paul leaves Janice for her best friend. Not a good look for Janice, in her snobby country-club society.
Despair turns her to drugs supplied by the pool man. (Why are pool men always young, good-looking and bad?)
Janice snorts her way through an awful lot of what she calls “It”.
Eldest daughter Margaret is horribly in debt.
The magazine she’s been publishing (called “Snatch” – truly!) has gone to the wall. Her boyfriend has dropped her. Life is grim.
Lizzie, fifteen, thinks she’ll find popularity by sleeping around. Wrong!
Meanwhile, Paul is taking Janice to the cleaners with the divorce settlement. Why do we not care what happens to any of them?
Verdict: Aaargh! I feel a TV series coming on.
