Boat goes up in flames

VIDEO: Firefighters were called to a Portsmith industrial site today when an abandoned boat went up in flames.  

Crews were called to reports of black smoke at the corner of Aumuller St and Ray Jones Dr just before 1.30pm on Friday.

Emergency services unable to reach the fire were then redirected to a Boral Masonry site in Hasell St.

It look less than five minutes to bring the blaze under control.

The fire started in an abandoned fibreglass boat at the rear of the Boral site. The boat, which was full of rubbish, was destroyed.

Police and the Queensland Ambulance Service also attended the scene.

The cause of the fire was being investigated and police were attempting to find the boat's owner.
