OF all the places to crash your car, this would have to be one of the worst.

An embarrassed learner driver ploughed her Nissan Tiida into Mission Beach Police Station's front fence on Saturday, knocking over a gate post after narrowly missing the station’s entrance sign.

The 16-year-old girl from Mission Beach, near Cairns, was driving under the guidance of her father, police said.

They believe she hit the accelerator rather than the brake as she crashed into the kerb in front of the police station after turning off the Mission Beach-Tully road into Webb St "with too much speed".

The accident happened about 1.35pm. A tow truck was needed to clear the scene - of the car and, with its removal, the happy snappers.
