MORE than 1000 excited kids and their parents packed into the Tanks Arts Centre on Sunday for a Children's Market Day.
Tanks marketing and promotions officer Belinda Griffin said despite the weekend rain a constant stream of people filed through the arts centre, with the bottom tank "full of kids".
"We've really built on the success of last year and brought in more youth organisations," Ms Griffin said.
"Youth arts is a real focus for the Tanks at the moment and this is an extension of that."
The market day included free disco dancing and martial arts workshops co-ordinated by Cairns PCYC, traditional toy-making workshops, roving entertainment by Circo Loco and performances by Japanese play groups.
Free face painting, miniature wire car and origami workshops were also popular.
Tank 4's gallery presented the Queensland Museum's Kids Time exhibition, an interactive vintage toy display that runs unti June 11.
"It`s all about getting families to do things together and at low cost," Ms Griffin said.
"So many people came and enjoyed themselves and there was something for everyone."
