Successful Sisterhood

Country Music stars The McClymonts are heading north to share tracks from their award-winning debut album, writes EVA ROBERTS.
Performing at the Reef and Rainforest Carnivale’s Quicksilver Food, Wine and A Taste of Port, the award-winning McCylmonts sisters are looking forward to performing for Queenslanders.
Despite the fact they’re signed to one of the giants of the record industry, the McClymonts say they really didn’t expect their debut album, Chaos and Bright Lights, would help score them a Golden Guitar this year for Group or Duo of the Year, adding to their already impressive tally of two Golden Guitars from their EP last year.
Before their recent success, the girls had earned their stripes by either songwriting, touring the country or by taking part in talent quests.
"We always definitely wanted to do the group," Samantha says. "But we wanted to make sure it was the right timing and that we were all focused on the same goals and had the same ideas and direction."
The right time saw the release of a debut self-titled EP and their album, Chaos and Bright Lights.
When it came to penning tracks for their album the girls wrote the majority of the material themselves, bringing in some reputable writers during the recording process in Nashville, USA.
Writing songs with industry greats who have penned hits for the Dixie Chicks and Keith Urban was the perfect cap for what would become their debut, award-winning album.
"It was pretty exciting," Samantha says. "Because we love writing our songs it is really important for us girls to write our music, at least we can say it does really reflect what we are about and what we want to sing about."
As well as working on new material, the singing sisters are also traveling Australia to promote their album live.
