Rydges Plaza Cairns has announced the first stage of an extensive upgrade for the 101 room hotel valued at $1.2 million will commence later this month

General Manager of Rydges Plaza Cairns, Scott Lynch, announced the first stage of an extensive upgrade for the 101 room hotel valued at $1.2 million will commence later this month

Focusing on accommodation and internal fit out, stage one of Rydges Plaza Cairns’ refurbishment program comes hot on the heels of new paintwork and signage to the hotel’s exterior that itself was valued at $350,000.

Mr Lynch said today’s announcement spells exciting times ahead for Rydges Plaza Cairns that already enjoys an inner-city location just minutes from Cairns Convention Centre.

“The long list of changes, that includes the installation of new air-conditioning, carpets, bathrooms and fittings, will completely refresh and reposition the hotel and its suitability to both corporate and leisure visitors,” said Mr Lynch.

With the replacement of air-conditioning, carpets and repainting of corridors getting the refurbishment underway mid-June, further changes are earmarked for July with the introduction of new flat screen televisions and in-house movie system and completion of ninth and tenth floor bathrooms.

Rydges Plaza Cairns is also proud to be one of the select properties within Rydges Hotels and Resorts to provide sleep time luxury in the form of its own innovative Rydges’ Dream Beds.

All changes in stage one are scheduled for completion by the middle of August 2008.

Rydges Plaza Cairns’ Lure Restaurant and Bar has not escaped the upgrade program and has just reopened serving dinner from Monday to Saturday.

This venue enjoys the convenience of street frontage overlooking Grafton Street and is now serving a new menu featuring modern Australian cuisine from the grill with weekly specials of curry, pasta and fish that will rotate weekly. Breakfast is served seven days a week from 6.30am.

Rydges Hotels & Resorts has also announced the introduction of “Rydges Priority Guest” program.

This innovative new program enables guests to enjoy special member benefits and rewards at over 30 hotels in New Zealand, Australia, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

More information and membership details can be accessed online by visiting www.rydges.com/priorityguest
