Hats, headpieces & fascinators
The Headwear Hardware exhibition at Cairns Regional Gallery will feature work from local artists
Cairns Regional Gallery presents Headwear Hardware – an exhibition of innovative and flamboyant millinery.
Twenty-five works have been created by five artists who excel in the creation of hats, headpieces and fascinators – Amanda Macor, Juanita Henry, Bernice Patton, Marty Bryen and Susann Treston.
Inspired by a three-hour tutorial on quirky witty and ostentatious hats, presented by Chicago Milliner Eia Radosavljvic, Headwear Hardware was conceived as an opportunity for personal exploration and another artistic dimension.
“The intention of Headwear Hardware is to be unique in using elements from the cyclical nature of fashion as inspiration” said artist and milliner Susann Treston.
“Virtually anything unusual can be used as a component in millinery, forming the foundation for embellishment for the pieces.”
The interpretation of the theme by five individuals with diverse and unique styles has resulted in an exhibition with contrasts of influence and form.
Headwear Hardware will be on display at Cairns Regional Gallery until July 20.
