Pro Dive finds news home
MARINE business Pro Dive is the new anchor tenant at the site of the old disposal store on the corner of Shield and Grafton Streets.
Since the disposal store closed last year, the distinctive yellow site has had a major refurbishment.
With the refurbishment well under way, trading should resume at the site in September.
Joining Pro Dive will be a French Patisserie on the Shield Street side.
A spectacular glass frontage and veranda roof are now features of the site.
Agent for commercial real estate company CB Richard Ellis, Bill Millett, said the site would be a welcome lease of life for the CBD.
"The refurbishment will provide a benchmark for other retail space in the city, showing it is possible to modernise premises without compromising the original architecture," he said.
"Buildings such as the Global Palace and Boland Centre are shining examples of preservation which all adds up to providing an appealing atmosphere.''
Rod Punshon from Pro Dive said the site would be serve as the business's retail centre, replacing the shop at the corner of Abbott and Shield Streets.
"I think it looks good and it will be nice to jazz up a corner which otherwise looks pretty average,'' he said.
