NAIDOC Exhibition
The NAIDOC Gallery Exhibition opens Friday, June 19 from 9am and runs until Saturday, July 12.
Indigenous artists of the region join forces to illustrate the beauty of their culture, where art is an essential part of life, not a luxury.
This exhibition will be open until the all-day NAIDOC Celebration event on Saturday, July 12 at Tanks Arts Centre.
The aim of Tanks’ NAIDOC program is to celebrate the survival of Indigenous culture and the Indigenous contribution to modern Australia, and to provide an inclusive occasion for all Far North Queensland Indigenous artists and viewers to share, communicate ideals, knowledge, skills and experiences.
This exhibition involves a number of indigenous artists of the region from established names such as Arone Meeks, through to emerging talents such as Daphne Anibia, Margaret de Jersy, Napoleon Oui, Eva Wanganeen and the artists from Tanks Arts Centre’s indigenous residency program from last month.
The NAIDOC Gallery Exhibition opens Friday, June 19 from 9am and runs until Saturday, July 12.
