Sharks supreme in carnival
SHARKS are still to taste defeat in 2008 after winning the Marlin Coast Regional Carnival at Martyn St Reserve with an unblemished record.
The Cairns Netball Association A grade ladder-leaders carried their regular season domination into the weekend carnival, beating home five of the association’s six other sides in the division one competition.

Exhausted after two full days of netball, Sharks player coach Cherie Horan said while there was a bit of fun to be had, the players made a point of playing at a high level.
"The girls, when they came up against Leps 1 and Leps 2 particularly, really put the foot on the accelerator because they love the challenge of playing," she said.
"It was a bit serious but we played people in a lot of new positions, so we were able to be creative.
"Overall it was mission accomplished."
It was a huge weekend of netball at Martyn St Reserve with 53 teams from across the Far North taking part in the carnival’s eight divisions.
Marlin Coast Netball Region president Heather McLaren said the carnival was a great endorsement for her sport.
"The thing that stood out most for me is that every association that competed went away with a trophy," she said.
"That speaks volumes. It shows the regions are catching up to what was traditionally a Cairns-dominated event."
