The Ben Winkleman Trio is an innovative and dynamic contemporary jazz piano trio, playing all original repertoire that draws on diverse influences that range from Afro-Cuban and Brazilian music to stride piano and Jelly Roll Morton’s “Spanish tinge”, to Argentinean tango and classical music.
The Ben Winkleman Trio have released two albums on Jazzhead to critical acclaim. Stomps and Pieces and Variations 2005 were nominated for a Bell award and The Spanish Tinge 2007 and were the winner of the AIR award for Best Jazz Release.
The Trio have toured extensively playing most major national jazz festival, and are now retuning to Tanks as part of the Jazz Up North 2008 series and Festival Cairns.
