Based on Mem Fox’s classic picture book, the stage production of Possum Magic has been stylishly embellished and turned into a rollicking Australian musical – complete with laminftons, pavlovas and vegemite sandwiches.
Since the world premiere season in 1990, it has become the most successful Australian musical for children ever produced for the stage.
Possum Magic is the tender tale of a baby possum Hush, made invisible by her Grandma Poss in an effort to keep her safe from snakes.
The adventure begins when Grandma is unable to reverse the “bush magic” spell and both she and Hush set off across Australia to try to find the solution.
A work full of imagination, charm and humour, Possum Magic features larger than life-size puppets, original music and a cast of multi-talented performers.
First published in 1983, this national tour will celebrate 25 years of magic and is sure to be the highlight of Australian children’s theatre for 2008.
