MORE than 100 juniors hit the Tropical North Tennis Association courts recently to gain valuable tournament experience at the Cairns Junior Masters Tennis B Circuit event.

Far North Queensland region boys and girls in age groups from under-9 to under-17 were in action over two days of the event, which was the fifth round of the FNQ Masters B circuit.

Tournament co-ordinator Dana Vincent was delighted with the end result.

"There was some great tennis played," she said. "There were a lot of close matches and all the kids had fun. For a few of them, it was their first time playing in a tournament."

The Masters B circuit is designed to provide tournament experience for players still developing their game, although a number of juniors have already progressed to the stage of playing in the stronger A circuit competition.

Some players involved in the Masters B event will line up at this weekend’s North Queensland Open Championships in Townsville.

For others, there is the Far North Queensland A circuit singles event in Cairns on July 26-27 followed by the B circuit doubles competition on August 2-3.
