Kevin Byrne's new job
BREAKING NEWS: Former Cairns mayor Kevin Byrne has accepted a position as executive director with property and investment group Capital Globe.
The appointment was announced today by Capital Globe, following speculation about Mr Byrne's future after he was defeated by Val Schier at the local government elections in March.
Capital Globe, a Hong Kong-based company with its Australian headquarters in Sydney, bought Cairns investment and home lending firm LHL earlier this year in a $30 million deal.
Mr Haque said Mr Byrne would provide the company with extensive knowledge about opportunities in Cairns and Far North Queensland, but also in the near Pacific and China.
