Mark Weinert wins a Mitsubishi Triton dual cab ute.

Mark Wernert has taken delivery of his new Mitsubishi Triton dual cab ute.

Mark won the vehicle in a competition run by The Cairns Post and Far Northern Mitsubishi dealers.

His mum Pam actually won the vehicle but handed over the four-wheel-drive to her son who needed a new vehicle.

Ms Wernert was one of thousands of readers who inundated The Cairns Post and Far North Mitsubishi dealers with competition entries to win the $40,000 car.

She said she put two entries in “just for the fun of it”.

“I’ve never won a thing in my life. I was just joking to Mark the other day that if I won it I’d sell it to him for $20,000.

“He said: ’Yeah right, mum’.”

The Cairns Post marketing department received more than 10,000 entries for the competition, with the winner getting a choice of the Triton ute or a Mitsubishi Outlander seven-seat wagon.

Mr Wernert picked up his silver Triton from Ireland Mitsubishi, Mulgrave Rd, last week.
