The amazing variety of fauna and flora on the Atherton Tableland is enough to keep an Australian wildlife lover (me) happily busy for years (six so far).

When at my desk, I look out on to a rainforest setting, home to more than 220 species of birds and dozens of mammal, reptile and amphibian species.

While I pursue my career as a photographer, writer, editor of books and articles about Australian wildlife, I often go outside to consult my live reference library.

It doesn't get much better than this.

Typical: The beauty of a Tableland back yard.
