Member for Cairns Desley Boyle tells us why Cairns means so much to her...

I love the air in Cairns.  It is sweet and fresh and warm.  I love the lushness of Cairns in the green season when our lives are subordinated to the power of the elements and wildlife is all around.

I love the hum, the energy which comes from being ringed by mountains and rainforests.  I feel like a girl again when I paddle at the ocean's edge on near deserted beaches with tropical islands on the horizon.

I love the space and the room to move and the freedom of Cairns.

I love it that Cairns is busy and ever growing and developing.  While it sometimes makes life hard in my job, I am really proud to come from a town where there is a lot of argy bargy between people and groups with opinions and agendas on everything.

When I am away, I miss Cairns dreadfully.

On November 13 it will be 30 years since my family and I moved to Cairns.  We drove in that day and I knew then - and I know it still - that Cairns is the best place to be.
