Relentless Rockin'
Minus Penny, with support from The Medics and Approaching Aver, launches its new album at Cannon Park Racecourse this Friday from 6.30pm.
Punk Rockers Minus Penny return home this weekend to release their new album.
Minus Penny has made a mark as a young and up-and-coming local punk rock band during the past few years.
But the boys decided to take their passion and commitment for music one step further by packing up and shifting to Brisbane from Cairns earlier this year.
The quartet made up of Campbell Will, Liam Selsby, Matthew Thomas and Alex Dedecius decided that music was where they wanted to be, so taking their instruments and a little money, and driving south, seemed like the right idea.
Arriving and settling in Brisbane, the boys wasted no time in laying down the material they had been writing during the previous year.
The result is their debut album Less Rest For The Restless.
The boys return home this week to plug the album on HotFM at 7.45am tomorrow and are set to play at Bands On The Beach on Saturday, July 19.
They’ll also be at Cannon Park racecourse tomorrow night to officially launch Less Rest for the Restless, with support from Cairns rock outfit The Medics, and Townsville band Approaching Aver.
Minus Penny ensnared the services of Sleeping In Trains member and music producer Mark Myers to record 10 tracks for the new album, with only seven quality tunes making the final cut.
The group came together in late 2006 and began playing shows and writing original music from the off, but have taken its time putting together its first full-length album.
After slogging it out at high school after-parties and making their way into the Cairns club scene, the Minus Penny guys recorded their first EP Far From Forgotten Fires and began to make a name for themselves by winning battle of the band contests in Cairns and Townsville as well as selling almost 400 CDs across the Far North.
Bringing together a combination of dedication, passion and a broad range of musical influences, this band has a unique rock based, pop-punk sound that is sure to take them far.
Their live show is a no-holds-barred frenzy of energy and enthusiasm. Don’t miss it.
