Little Theatre's Thorny Comedy
The White Rose is on at the Rondo Theatre from Friday, July 25 to Saturday, August 2 at 8pm
This is not the story of two star-crossed lovers, but two friends Angela (Laura Pike) and Ben (Ben Cole), who are out for an inheritance and some lovely wedding presents.
Throw in Lynne, a disgruntled girlfriend (Lisa Worthington), a drag queen (Lance Helms), Angela’s Greek twin brothers Nikkos (Anthony Busa) and Stavros (Christopher Busa), their Greek mother (Sonya Kremser) and the Greek family matriarch Yaya (Geri LeVinge) and you have Will and Grace meets My Big Fat Greek Wedding live on stage at the Rondo Theatre.
Cairns Little Theatre’s latest production, opening on July 25, is Steven Dawson’s hilariously funny Australian farce The White Rose.
This play will have you in stitches keeping up with the hectic antics of Angela and Ben as they try to pull off the greatest scam of the ’90s.
With the help of their friend Hal in a dress, they try and fool Angela’s drunken grandmother, twin brothers and crazy mother. All would go to plan if it weren’t for Angela’s estranged girlfriend, a disastrous wedding dress and a broken toilet.
The high-energy teamwork in this looney little number will be enjoyed by many.
The White Rose is on at the Rondo Theatre from Friday, July 25 to Saturday, August 2 at 8pm. It’s rated MA15+ for occasional coarse language and adult themes. Book at TicketLink on 4031 9555.
