A scene from The Edge Of Heaven.

The Edge Of Heaven is an intriguing, complex, beautifully acted and directed film set in Germany and Turkey.

It’s about the gulf between first and second generation Turkish-Germans, their identity conflicts and their relationship with their homeland as it prepares to join the European Union and struggles to decide whether it is an Asian or European nation – or can it possibly be both?

"We’re very pleased to be able to give lovers of quality cinema the chance to see such highly acclaimed films in Cairns on the big screen in the comfort of the civic theatre on a more regular basis," End Credits program director Brett Hitchens says.

"We’re thrilled and delighted that partnerships such as this can bring these opportunities to our region and that new digital projection technologies can broaden the scope of contemporary entertainment available at the civic.

"We want to build on the strong support of the committed core audience who have supported us for 10 years and we look forward to seeing our regulars among a much larger audience at the civic."

The doors will open at 6.30pm and patrons are encouraged to take advantage of the licensed bar and meet friends for a pre-movie drink.

Advanced tickets are available from TicketLink for $13 or $10 for End Credits members.

The Edge Of Heaven is rated M and screens at Civic Theatre on Thursday, July 10 from 7.30pm.
