Having to travel so much these days I yearn to return to my favourite place on my balcony at home where I have lived for 30 years in the picturest Edge Hill back drop of mountains.

I love the kookaburras who sit in our tree and sing their song.

I love watching a tropical rainstorm as it rolls in over the mountains giving life to all of our plants. 

My neighbourhood is special with caring neighbours sharing stories on their beautifully kept gardens and having someone always to talk too.

My favourite thing is awaiting the arrival of friends and relatives from overseas and interstate  who come to visit.

I love talking to them about all of our tours from the reef to the tablelands or just taking a walk through the gardens or simply relaxing at home with me. 

I love cooking for our visitors and sitting on my balcony discussing the beauty of what they have seen.

It does not matter what time of the year it is there is always somewhere to go and see from walking on the esplanade enjoying the birdlife, shopping and having coffee.

Nothing is too far away.

My daughter lives in London and cannot wait to come to visit to sit on the "balcony" that she misses so much.

The beauty, the warmth, the spirit of its people will always bring us back to appreciate what we have living in Cairns.
