A LOVE affair with the region's clean beaches and exotic islands began the moment Ebeny Keating arrived in the Far North 11 years ago.

Every day she basks in the sunshine and absorbs the relaxed lifestyle that only the Far North offers.

"My main love about Cairns is the pristine beaches and exotic islands," the North Queensland life saving services co-ordinator of Surf Life Saving Queensland said.

"It is amazing how there is so much to do in Cairns and North Queensland, from the mountains to the Reef and the Esplanade to the rainforest."

Ms Keating penned her feelings about "her home" as part of the Why We Love It Here campaign, launched by The Cairns Post and cairns.com.au.

The campaign aims to lure tourists to the region, using the words of locals.

Tell us why you love it here.

"The weather is fantastic and the lifestyle relaxed," she said.

"How great is it to call family, friends and head office down south especially during winter and share yet another day in paradise, top of 28 degrees, blue skies, sun is shining and the water is beautiful?"

Ms Keating said learning about crocodiles, marine stingers, sharks and stingrays were among the perks of her job.
