Murder, obsession & forensics?

The Girl with the Crooked Nose by Ted Botha (Allen & Unwin)

The Girl with the Crooked Nose drops "big names" and "big events" but left me feeling unfulfilled.

The author’s long winded descriptions of various art pieces were boring and had me skipping pages to get to the crux of the story.

The build up to the main event – solving the mass Mexican murders in Juarez – was dull and by the end of the book there wasn’t an ending nor were the murders solved.

Frank Benders’ amazing artistic ability is truly amazing and there is no doubt that his help was the key factor to many unsolved murders in America but the blurb on the back of the book is nowhere near a true description of what this book actually contains.

Verdict: To say this book is "a tale of murder, obsession and forensic artistry" is a gross exaggeration.
