Artist Profile - Bonemap
Rebecca Youdell and Russell Milledge
Why did you want to express yourself artistically?
Passion for the arts was central to life from a very early age. We have been focused on artistic practice throughout our professional careers.
How long have you been practising artists?
Bonemap has been presenting the work of artists in Cairns and abroad since 1999. As individuals, we have a combined profile covering 40 years.
What are your thoughts ON the LOCAL art scene?
Far North Queensland has been a significant incubator of innovation for many decades. It is one of the few communities in Australia where indigenous and non-indigenous artists work together. The creative community has contributed to the ambience of the region, but it is disturbing that inappropriate development threatens that.
What are you currently working on/exhibiting?
The Exquisite Resonance of Memory is an exhibition at KickArts until August 30.
Where are you heading in the future?
We will continue to contribute to creative arts in the region. For our personal artistic development we will continue harnessing opportunities to research, develop and present our unique creative language.
