In good company

LAST week Busy revealed the fact TTNQ's marketing director Dion Eades was to become the first to celebrate 10 years service with the tourism group.

We also revealed he was a former Bachelor of the Year candidate. Dion, pictured in 1996, was in good company with other finalists being cricketer Brendan Julian, actor and heartthrob Eric Bana, footy good guy/bad guy Wendell Sailor and tennis flip flop Mark Philippoussis.

   Bill in charge
FORMER tourism guru Bill Calderwood`s love of music has led him into another position. Bill, who most recently was interim CEO of Advance Cairns, has been elected chair of Arts Nexus. A quick look at Bill`s background shows he studied music through the London College of Music, which explains his passion for jazz piano. He has also held board positions with CoCA and the Festival Cairns.

   Tight-lipped
STATE Treasurer Andrew Fraser is remaining very tight-lipped when it comes to how many and who is interested in buying Cairns Airport. While the cynic that Busy is could say this is an indication the numbers aren't too good, spies in Brisbane say the go-ahead tyro had a very broad grin on his face when saying he was very pleased with the number and quality of the expressions of interest.

New directions
YOU have to give it to the marketing people these days when they advertise for staff. Once upon a time businesses had receptionists - you know, the people who manned the front counter, answered phones and the like. It seems they no longer exist and in their places are "directors of first impressions''. Cleaners will probably be the next to go, replaced perhaps by directors of office environment.
