Dan Vowles, President of the Machans Beach Sports Club, tells us why he loves it here. 

As the president of the Machans Beach Sports club, and father of four children, three of at Machans Primary School, i find it rewarding to be involved in such a unique suburb.

Although we are the closest beach to town, yet we are happily overlooked by development, to which I am happy.

We have arguably the most motivated, invironmentally and family conscious people in any Cairns suburb due to the great efforts various community associations who all work together.

I love that we love fishing as we are where the Barron meets the see and most "beach houses" have a boat in their yard.

I love the fishing village lifestyle while have an international airport across the river and the Great Barrier Reef at my doorstep.

That's why I love Cairns.
