Paradise Palms Resort and Country Club may stake its claim on having one of Australia's best golf courses, but a much bigger vision is beginning to take shape that will make it a complete leisure and lifestyle destination for local residents and visitors alike.

Leading the roll out in a series of changes scheduled for 2008 is a new look Clubhouse incorporating signature dining outlet, Fifty Nine Restaurant and Bar and golf pro shop.

These developments were unveiled this week following an intensive six months of development that required closure of the entire area.

According to Craig Biber, General Manager of Vision Hotels and Resorts, today celebrates the beginning of a new era for Paradise Palms Resort and Country Club.

"While the ground floor of the clubhouse has been completely transformed, it is just the tip of the iceberg. Within the next six months the evolutionary process will gather momentum with developments that include the opening of a 2000 square metre adventure playground, gymnasium, day spa and 96 room, 4.5 star resort. But until then we are keen to showcase our new look Clubhouse and in particular, Fifty Nine Restaurant and Bar," he said.

What’s in a number?

According to Mr Biber, the numerically named restaurant takes its from the exact latitude of Paradise Palms and the magical golf score of 59 achieved on the PGA Tour by Al Geiberger, Chip Beck and David Duval and on the LPGA Tour by Annika Sorenstam.

“With regards to its operation, our objective was to create an all occasion restaurant equally suited to refreshing ale after golf or a special dinner celebration with family and friends. The beauty of this new outlet is not only its versatility, but the way in which it takes full advantage of the golf course and its stunning vista,” he said.

Featuring a choice of both indoor and outdoor dining and bar settings, the thoroughly modern interiors are given warmth through luxurious furnishings in earthy tones and textures.

In its plan to become one of the region’s most picturesque and memorable meeting places – with or without the golf – the food has naturally commanded special attention.

Open now for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the all-day dining menus feature a fresh and seasonal blend of ingredients that can only be described as "something for everyone", including local seafood, steak, gourmet pizzas, asian and vegetarian options.

Executive chef, Matt Dye said in its opening weeks, guests can expect to enjoy an affordable selection of dishes showcasing the region’s best and freshest ingredients.

While breakfast and lunch menus comprise a choice of traditional dishes suited to all appetites, the dinner menu has been especially designed to please.

“To mark the opening of Fifty Nine Restaurant and Bar, we have introduced a special $59 menu for two people.  This is a two course menu that can be enjoyed as an entrée and main or main and dessert,” he said.

Even the children are catered for at Fifty Nine Restaurant and Bar with a special menu of kid-friendly-fare and special entertainment between 5.30 pm and 7.30pm every Saturday night.

Children’s entertainer Rachel Bradley will make kids into kings and queens with special face painting, games and music while mums and dads relax and enjoy what the restaurant has to offer.

Of course, golfers have not been completely forgotten and it is expected that they will soon make Fifty Nine Restaurant and Bar the place to warm up and unwind before or after a round of golf.

They will no doubt truly appreciate the spacious new Pro-Shop that has been greatly expanded to feature a large selection of boutique style sports clothing and equipment.

Fifty Nine Restaurant and Bar is now open seven days a week from 8am until late for breakfast, lunch, dinner and a selection of snacks with an extensive wine list and drinks menu to match.
