There's one down and two heats to go in the timeOUT concert Battle Of The Bands competition

Another top six local bands will rock the crowd at Gilligan’s this Sunday in heat two of the timeOUT Battle of the Bands competition to see who will join last week’s heat winners Minus Penny and One Eye Deer.

Bands Violet Shift, Allure, For An Occasion, The Tree, Approaching Aver and Sweet Tooth compete this Sunday for two spots alongside Minus Penny and One Eye Deer in the final, which will be held at Gilligan’s on Friday, August 8.

Minus Penny entered the comp for the third time this year – and after being named a finalist at last Sunday’s first heat they could prove to be third time lucky.

On the heels of the release of their successful album, Less Rest For The Restless, the guys, who made their mark in Cairns as an up-and-coming local punk rock band, recently relocated to Brisbane to pursue their music dreams.

Band member Campbell Will says victory in the Battle of the Bands would be a huge step forward for the band.

He said it would be amazing to see their names up in lights alongside Faker, Kisschasy, Blue King Brown and Scribe if they were to take the title and open the timeOUT concert on Saturday, August 30 at the Cairns Showground.

As the competition heats up Minus Penny will be busy rehearsing in Brisbane.

And don’t forget the token collection for tickets to the August 30 concert starts this weekend, with the first one in this Saturday’s The Weekend Post.

Heat two of timeOUT’s Battle of the Bands competition will be held at Gilligan’s from 5pm this Sunday, July 27.
