Brotherly Love
End Credits Film Club is screening 'My Brother Is An Only Child' tonight at Cairns Civic Theatre.
This Italian film was a mega success in its home country.
Set in the 1960s and ’70s in an Italy still emerging from under the shadow of Mussolini, it tells the story of two working-class brothers, one a fascist and the other a communist, who are both in love with the same woman.
Fifteen years of Italian history pass by as these brothers realise despite their differences, they’re very much alike.
Director Daniele Luchetti takes serious political themes, undermines them with humour laced with nostalgic Italian whimsy and deftly draws us into this family’s world with exquisite performances.
Tickets available from TicketLink on 4031 9555 and cost $13 or $10 for End Credits members. Doors open at 6.30pm, screening starts at 7.30pm.
