It's another ace
WHAT do Ty Williams, Bob Hawke and Jackie Pietsch have in common?
They've all hit hole-in-ones in the past month.
Cairns golfer Pietsch scored her second ace when she hit the perfect tee shot at the par three eighth hole at Cairns Golf Club.
The 70-year-old said it was a big thrill to join North Queensland Cowboy Williams and former prime minister Hawke in the exclusive 2008 ace club.
Pietsch hit her first hole-in-one in 2000 but had almost given up hope of adding to her tally.
"This one was more exciting because it gets to the stage where you think I'll never have one of them again," she said.
"But it's always exciting to get a hole-in-one. You don't have to put all the work in because it's already done."
Pietsch said the sweet shot was on track from moment she hit it.
"It landed just on the green and it was running up to the hole and one of the girls shouted 'that's going in'. It was pretty exciting."
The FNQ Veterans Golf Association member usually plays three times a week and only moved from A grade to B grade in March. Twenty years of playing has honed her game and regular exercise has kept her in shape.
"There's a lot of these women that just go around in electric buggies and some of them are half my age - but I still walk.
"I go for a walk every morning to keep fit."
