Sad farewell for bash victim
HE was remembered as a sports fan, a businessman, a father, son and brother.
More than 70 people attended the funeral of Cairns man Craig Hadrick, 35, who died after a fight at Fretwell Park last weekend.
Daniel Paul Jackson, 23, has been charged with manslaughter over his death.
"He was a great loving bloke," Mr Hadrick’s sister, Kylie Reynolds, said.
"He just followed his dreams and succeeded at everything he wanted to do.
"He enjoyed every minute of his life."
Family and friends of the plasterer came from across the country to pay their respects at Mt Sheridan cemetery on Saturday.
They heard about Mr Hadrick’s love of scuba diving and the outdoors.
His work shirt, along with a cricket bat, squash racquet and a photo of him with his son, adorned his coffin.
Friends and family embraced and cried as they remembered the man taken away so suddenly.
"That’s the hardest thing, we didn’t get to see him or say goodbye," Ms Reynolds said.
"It’s just so sad that he leaves his little boy behind because he really loved being a dad."
