CAIRNS actor Isabel Lucas was the mystery passenger in Shia LaBeouf's weekend drink-driving car accident, media reports in the US say.

LaBeouf`s 23-year-old Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen co-star was reportedly sitting next to him when he made a left turn on a red light and crashed his Ford F150 at 2.45am (local time) on Sunday in Los Angeles.

Usmagazine broke the story, saying LaBeouf had been at the Troubadour club watching the band, Lemon Son, on Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles on Saturday night.

LaBeouf suffered hand injuries and was arrested for drink driving.

Lucas was reportedly admitted to Cedars-Sinai hospital for "minor head injuries" and later released.

A rep for the film told the New York Daily News Lucas was fine and back on set filming.

Lucas's Australian representatives were unavailable for comment.

Lucas, who gained fame on Home and Away before heading overseas, gained her big break when she was spotted at weekend markets in Port Douglas.

She has become a passionate supporter of environmental causes and has been involved in a campaign to stop the harpooning of whales.

Back at work: According to a US magazine, Isabel Lucas received minor injuries in a weekend car accident.
