Despite being a cosmopolitan city, Cairns has many untouched beaches that are perfect to enjoy a romantic walk watching the sun go down.

Apart from the more well-known destinations like Palm Cove and Port Douglas, there are many other beaches in the region that are worth a visit.

To the south is Mission Beach, offing various accommodation options, from luxury through to backpackers, excellent restaurants and the magic of the Cassowary Coast.

To the north, the untouched natural wonder of the Daintree offers spots like Cow Bay, Cape Tribulation and Cape Kimberly - perhaps the most secluded and undeveloped of all Cairns beaches.

Closer to Cairns CBD, beaches like Trinity, Kewarra, Clifton and Yorkey's Knob all offer white sands, palm trees and classic Far Northern sunsets of course!

While these beaches are mainly residential, they have accommodation and restaurants dotted along the waterfront and are great ways to escape the hustle and bustle of the CBD without having to look too far.

Cairns' Northern Beaches are easily accessed by public transport and are located around 20-30 minutes drive from the CBD.

The Daintree and Mission Beach are both about 1.5 hours drive north and south respectively and are best accessed in either a private vehicle or with one of the private tour companies that operate in the region.
