Blessed are the home builders
EVIL is unlikely to come to Smithfield Village, thanks to one new investor.
Melbourne couple Paul Brincat and Nilanthi Perera had their recently-purchased lot blessed by their parish priest.
The Brincats already own three Melbourne properties and two in Brisbane, but having little experience of the Far North, they decided to ask for some divine assistance.
By coincidence their parish priest was visiting Port Douglas and made the trip down the highway.
"Our local priest, Father Stuart Gardiner from the Saint Matthews of Glenroy Parish, happened to be travelling to Port Douglas on holiday so we asked him to call in and bless our land,'' Mr Brincat said.
"And all the feedback on the lot has been good. The pictures looked great.''
Although the Brincats don't plan on living in Cairns for at least two years, they are looking forward to the day they can leave Melbourne's cold weather.
"Paul loves to fish and I love the tropical fruits and vegetables,'' Mrs Perera said.
The couple first visited Cairns for a holiday but decided they didn`t want to leave.
After returning to Melbourne they found Smithfield Estate on the internet.
Paul, Nilanthi and their daughter 17-year-old Alexandriea and 14-year-old son Devin won't be moving straight to Smithfield.
