Missing Migaloo a mystery
WHALE watchers are wondering where Migaloo is.
Playful minkes and humpbacks have been delighting tourists and crews on Reef boats for weeks. But the only trace of the white giant has been a lone possible glimpse off Yorkey’s Knob earlier this month.
In previous years, Migaloo has appeared well before July 29, Quicksilver’s Megan Bell told The Cairns Post.
"We’ve seen him the last three years and we know we want to see him again, but he’s being elusive," Ms Bell said. "Nobody has seen him."
Za Harricharan, of Skysafari Port Douglas, said whale watchers had signed up to a waiting list at the start of the season hoping to seeing Migaloo.
Seastar Cruises skipper Peter Edwards, at the helm when the humpback pair pictured were snapped 11km outside Cairns, already has one Migaloo sighting under his belt from previous years.
"He’ll be easy to spot," Mr Edwards tipped.
In the meantime, Migaloo’s migrating kin put on a spectacular show.
